CREATION PROCESS

 

Immigration brings a direct confrontation with issues of identity.

Being in another country is a clash of cultures that instigates the immigrant to question, restate and reaffirm their values​​, habits and opinions. The process of creating A ≡ A part of the investigation of the immigration experience of its participants. Leonardo Camarcio and Mano Amaro are Brazilians rooted in Belgium for 7 and 17 years respectively. The proposal was to understand how memory and cultures are established in the body, their contributions and interference. Initially there was a survey of gestures from different cultures that was summed up with the technique of contact and improvisation, seeking to create choreography and theatrical scenes that desconstructed the literal. Elements of performance art are also present in A ≡ A. To further enhance communication with the public we add songs from different countries in different languages ​​with projections of original videos created by Leonardo Camarcio. The interdisciplinary approach is taken to its fullest extent, including a short film created especially for the show. The idea is that the stage becomes, for a moment, a cinema screen.
